Scripture Reading ... Matthew 9:18-26
When most people think of Jesus raising someone from the dead, the story of Lazarus is the one most often remembered. There is another story like this in the Bible. This time Jesus raised a young girl from her death. Although, this girl had not been dead as long as Lazarus, it expresses another great miracle.
This story has a special significance in regards to the power of faith. First, faith is shown by the father who asks Jesus to come to lay hands on his daughter because this man knew Jesus would restore her to life. Then, on the way to help the man's daughter, a woman touches Jesus' garment and she is healed. Her act of faith healed her.
Faith is the action taken as a result of our belief. We can say we believe in Jesus, but faith requires action. We must express our faith by allowing God to guide us and accepting the opportunities to help people in need which are placed before us.
