Woman at the Well

Woman at the Well

Scripture Reading ... John 4:1-26

I have seen many Christian people refuse to help certain types of people or those from lower social classes. Their excuses were always that they just did not feel comfortable around certain people. Some examples include: prostitutes, prisoners, homeless people, or those people living in less popular areas of the community.

Jesus did not have this problem. He did not care where a person was from or what they had done in the past. He was there to help them and offered information or help to change their lives. He did this with love and compassion for all.

The woman at the well told Jesus the truth about who she was and what she had done. Jesus did not feel uncomfortable talking with her. He was pleased with her for telling Him the truth.

This is a message which clearly teaches us an important fact. We all were created by God. We should not worry about what others may think of those we are helping, or how we will be perceived if we help them. Neither, should we discourage others from helping people who need help regardless of their particular need or social class. In helping the poor or lower classes, we are helping Jesus. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' (Matthew 25:40 NKJ Version)
